Seasoned Soft Firewood Logs

What we sell

We sell logs in large 'ventilated' 0.5 cu meter bags, these are the 80 x 80 cm bags. Logs are air seasoned containing a mixture of Larch, Sitka or pine. Please choose quantity from half cubic meter drop down.

We are audited by ReadytoBurn and accredited to sell both seasoned and part seasoned logs. If you chose to buy part seasoned these are cheaper and you can continue to season these at home. We will supply the necessary guidance and inform you of the current moisture content when we deliver.

If  you chose ready to burn these logs are certified to have a moisture content of less than 20%.

Delivery to a WF postcode is included. We will cancel any other orders unless you have called us to check we can accommodate.

VAT is charged at the reduced fuel rate of 5% and also included.

Larch logs although a soft wood are the perfect option for wood burning or multi-fuel stoves. These logs are easily lit and give off a really good heat often higher than many hardwoods making Larch a great firewood however it is prone to spit so not ideal for open fires but a highly recommended product for all stoves. 

Sitka spruce is a relatively abundant softwood making is cheaper. However it doesn't give off as much heat BTU as larch or the hardwoods.

What we sell

Our bulk bags, measure 80 x 80 x 80cm and contain 0.512 cubic meters. These are our largest bags, offering a large quantity of logs and real value for money. They contain on average about 250 kilogram of dry wood but you are buying volume not weight.

Quality

Just like our trees we are offering a great value quality product. We guarantee our certified air dried logs to be below an average moisture content of 20% and they are usually well below.

For part seasoned logs we are required to supply the Government notice which is in bold below.

It :

1. requires us to sell 2 cubic meters or more,
2. also requires us to pass on their notice to you.

Our part seasoned logs are also all cut between 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) in length making them perfect for stacking but they may have a moisture content above 20% so please store in a well ventilated place to continue the air drying process.

The Law

Please note the law and my requirement to supply you with this notice when selling part seasoned logs:

“This wood is not suitable for burning until it has been dried. You should not burn wood until it has a moisture content of 20% or less.

“Wet wood contains moisture which creates smoke and harmful particulates when burnt. As well as being harmful to your health and the environment, this can damage your stove and chimney and is an inefficient way to heat your home. Dry it in a sunny, well-aired space for at least two years, keeping rain off in the winter.

“Radial cracks and bark that comes off easily suggests wood that is ready for burning. Test the wood when you think it is ready for burning, ideally with a moisture meter. First calibrate the meter and then measure a freshly split surface to get the best reading.”
